I'm very excited to share this week's adventure with you all, but first a few disclaimers. Please excuse my brief posts, as I have limited access to internet and instead, I'll be enjoying the outdoors. This week I am going back to my hometown, so I'll have more to share about my experience than tips for travel, but keep an eye out for some of my favorite spots!
As you may have guessed, I'm headed back to Northern California! Pro-tip: If you're going to the Bay Area, its often cheaper and more convenient to fly into Oakland International Airport as opposed to San Francisco. As much as I love the bay, I will be spending most of my time farther north in a small town named Occidental. I took the week off of work and school to work as a cabin leader at an environmental education camp, Caritas Creek at CYO Camp and Retreat Center. Here, in the midst of 216 acres of coastal redwoods, I will have the pleasure of working with the eighth grade class of two different schools. I won't lie, I am slightly apprehensive for two reasons: It is supposed to be pouring rain a majority of the time I am here, and 13 is a tough age. That being said, I'm still pretty stoked. How could I not be?
Our backdrop for this week is unbeatable. Look at the lodge, complete with two wood-burning fireplaces. Feeling especially at home as I begin this week. Wish me luck!

Happy Travels,
Colleen
